Winter Lights Christmas Exhibition

EXTENDED OPENING TIMES: Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th December 11am - 2pm

Fen Ditton Gallery are shining a festive light on artists and makers this Christmas.

Winter Lights continues the gallery’s Conversation with Trees with some fine engravings by master wood engraver Andy English; stunning woodfired vessels by Skye potter Patricia Shone; sustainably sourced wood work by Tim Plunkett; Rebecca Jewell’s limited edition birdsong silk scarves as well as a new selection of photographs by Paul Hart together with further copies of his new photobook ‘Fragile’

In a modest but beautiful ‘pre-loved’ element to Winter Lights we have sourced one or two gems of mid twentieth century domestic pottery from a private collection. This includes three beautiful Ray Finch (1914-2012) woodfired teabowls. Finch took on Winchcombe Pottery from Michael Cardew and carried on producing his strong, functional wares well into his nineties. Also available is a delightful tenmoku glazed tea set by Harry and Mary Davis (1910-1986/1914-1998) made at their 1950s Crowan Pottery, Cornwall which they established after meeting at, and working with, Bernard Leach at St Ives and before leaving England to work in West Africa; South America and finally New Zealand.

All this is on show alongside new paintings by Rosemary Cullum and a vibrant selection of other prints and drawings by gallery artists including Nigel Hall RA whose new show has just opened at Towner Gallery Eastbourne.

Other Winter Lights include jewellery by Janet Powell and glassware by Yorkshire’s Gillies Jones.
