Ian Brooks is inspired by remote, wild landscapes. Through his work he aims to balance closely observed detail with more abstract, loose rendering that captures the energy of sketches made in the field.
His techniques include sugar-lift and spit-bite aquatint, working on copper plates.
Brooks was awarded the ING Discerning Eye – Original Print Prize in 2020 and has also received the Zillah Bell Printmaker’s Prize in the New Light Art Prize.
